Skilled swimmers can take their training to the next level and lay the foundation for a career in pool lifeguarding.
The national pool lifeguard qualification is a nationally recognised qualification enabling successful candidates to supervise pools and other wet side activities.

Before attending the course, all candidates must be able to:

- Jump/dive into deep water
- Swim 50 metres in around 60 seconds
- Tread water for 30 seconds
- Swim 100 metres continuous on both front and back
- Surface dive to the deepest part of the pool
- Climb out of the pool unaided without the use of steps

Attendance on all dates is compulsory to complete the course. If you require any special conditions to take the course you must apply in writing directly to IQL.

Our National Pool Lifeguard courses run on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evening between 5.30pm - 9.30pm in 4 week blocks.
