  • Do you have certain times for lane swimming?

    Our lane swimming sessions are held frequently throughout the week. For specific times and sessions please view the lane swim timetable


    How and when can I book classes?

    All fitness classes can be booked from 8:00am, 24 hours prior to the class. Aqua aerobics, sports hall bookings and court hire can be booked up to 7 days in advance.

    Please note that classes should always be booked in advance to guarantee a place. We will contact you directly should we need to make any alterations to the listed programme after booking.

    All bookings can be made by calling us 0114 231 2233, visiting the reception desk in person or booking online. Please be aware when calling to book that our lines do get very busy and your patience is much appreciated.

    All fitness classes (except aqua aerobics) can be booked online. To book online please follow the link on the website. If you are booking for the first time you need to register you details.



    At what age can I bring my child swimming?

    The following are recommendations taken from the ISRM guidance notes

    All children under the age of 8 years muct be accompanied by a responsible adult (over 16) . They will go into the water with the children they are accompanying and whilst in the pool the responsible adult (over 16) should maintain a constant watch over the children they are responsible for and be in close contact with those who are weak or non-swimmers.

    Standard ration, in a traditional 25m pool with deep and shallow water recommends that children under the age of 4 should be accompanied by an adult on a one to one ratio.

    Children aged between four and seven should be accompanied by a responsible adult (over 16) on a two to one ratio.

    During our leisure swim programme we have made provisions to extend the usage for under 4's by allowing responsible adults (over 16) to enter the pool with under 4's on a two to one ration at the following times:

    Term timetable
    9am-3pm, with last admission at 2:30pm
    Weekends 9am-10:30am, with last admission at 10am

    Holiday timetable
    9am-10:30am, with last admission at 10am
    Weekends 9am-10:30am, with last admission at 10am


    Our coached Baby Splash sessions enable pre-school children to build water confidence to give them a head start, sessions are Tuesdays and Wednesdays 11:30am-12:30pm

    Do you have car parking facilities?

    We have an extensive car park with over 200 spaces, including designated wide parking spaces, we also have 2 overspill car parks for busier times.

    Do you have facilities for disabled people?

    We have a range of facilities for our disabled customers and we were IFI (Inclusive Fitness Initiative) accredited in December 2005. Our facilities are full accessible and include a lift to our upper floor, designated parking, a lower till point at our reception desk, hearing loops, toilet and change areas plus much more.


    Do I need an induction to use the fitness suite?


    All customers require and induction to use the fitness suite.

    If you have had an induction at another SIV site then you will be given an induction card that must be shown to gain access to the facility. All members of SIV will need to bring their SIV card to gain access.
    It is recommended that customers who have not had an induction at Hillsborough Leisure Centre take this opportunity to increase their knowledge of the equipment and specific safety issues.

    Who is responsible for the Creche?

    The Creche Manager, Sharon Armin and her dedicated team of staff ensure your child's wellbeing and enjoyment whilst using the creche facilities.



    Do students or senior citizens get a discount?

    We do not give specific discounts for students or seniors. However, there is an opportunity to apply for a slice card which is a Sheffield City Council discount card that is accepted at all SIV venues.
