Holding the baton of success at Hillsborough Leisure Centre
O
On the 15th and 16th March 2008, over 100 athletes and 9 teams of top baton twirlers from the British Baton Twirling Sports Association competed for the honour of being selected to be members of the squad that will represent their country in international competitions at World and European levels.
The competition took place at the Hillsborough Leisure Centre, Penistone road, Sheffield, where hopeful athletes took part in several disciplines to show their skills to the best of their ability. The weekends event was the culmination of months of hard work with their coaches; choreographing, training and practising their routines to perfection in the fervent hope of gaining the honour of competing for their Country.
Now the selection process has been completed, the real work begins training and practising their routines to gain perfection in time for the International Championships. The European Cup of Clubs and Grand Prix will take place in Russelheim, Germany in July; and the World Championships and International Cup will take place in Limerick, Ireland in August..Our best wishes of luck go to all competitors at the European and World Championships and International Cup.
The BBTSA are bringing the British Open event to Hillsborough once again this year on the weekend of the 31st May and 1st June 2008.
