Youngsters get fit with star help for Children In Need!

’s sporting elite helped school children from across the city to get active for charity at
Hillsborough Leisure Centre.
Hundreds of pupils tried their hand at a range of sports under the expert guidance of Sheffield United players Chris Lucketti and Paul Gerrard, Sharks players Shelby Chaney and Alto Virgil and Eagles captain Jack Howieson.
The Sheffield International Venues (SIV) managed facility organised the Get Kids Fit day for Children in Need to encourage yo ungsters to help themselves as well as others.
Pudsey Bear and the Hillsborough Leisure Centre mascot ‘Captain Mad Dog’ joined around 200 pupils who took part in the mass exercise session with each child donating at least £1.50 to charity.
James Rowbotham and Paul Greaves from the Abbey Flyers and British synchronised trampolining teams also passed on their expertise to the youngsters.

said: “This was an excellent event which combined fun with exercise whilst enabling us to raise money for charity. I can confidently say that the children and sports stars all really enjoyed the day”.
“Get Kids Fit was a fantastic opportunity for youngsters to experience a wide range of sports so they can see just how much fun exercise can be and it was great to see the enthusiasm of those taking part.” The event also included a kids’ fitness class run by venue staff and a smoothie tasting session.
Hillsborough Leisure Centre, which was recently named the UK’s Centre of the Year for the third consecutive year, is running fundraising activities throughout Children in Need week including a worst dressed pirate competition and a colouring competition.
