Hundreds of pupils went into battle as part of an intra-school sports day with a difference.
The relay races and challenges undertaken by youngsters from Ecclesfield, Myers Grove and Wisewood schools were all completed in water!
More than 230 pupils took part in the water sports day at Sheffield International Venues managed Hillsborough Leisure Centre, with forms competing for top honours.
The two day event was given an aquatic theme to help youngsters try new activities and demonstrate the number of ways in which they can keep fit. Pupils tried their hand at water polo as well as water-based relay team games.
Programming and development manager Jayne Naylor said: “The school sports days were a great success and the feedback we’ve had from both staff and pupils has been very positive.
“Events like this not only extend our links with the local community, of which we’re very proud, but also help to keep children active and show them the diverse way in which they can participate in physical activity.
“Sometimes it’s easy for people not to look further than ‘traditional’ sports but hopefully sessions like this will remind parents and children alike that there are countless ways of staying active.“
Pupils also enjoyed a fun session in the leisure pool at the multi-award winning Penistone Road venue.
Youngsters made the most of the facilities including the new pirate ship which incorporates a slide and water cannons.
Earlier this year Hillsborough Leisure Centre was named UK Centre of the Year for the third consecutive year in the prestigious Fitness Industry Association (FIA) FLAME Awards.
