Do you have certain times for lane swimming? Our lane swimming sessions are held frequently throughout the week. For specific times and session information please visit the Rock Pool Timetable.
How and when can I book for classes? All Group Fitness classes can be booked from 8.00 am, 24hours prior to the class. However, aqua aerobics, Sports hall bookings and court hire can be booked up to 7 days in advance.
Please note that classes should always be booked in advance to guarantee your place. We will contact directly you should we need to make any alterations to the listed program after booking. All bookings can be made by calling us on 0114 2312233 or visiting the Reception desk in person. Please be aware when calling to book classes that our lines do get very busy and your patience is much appreciated.
Coming early 2008. You will be able to use our online system to book classes and other onsite activities.
At what age can I bring my child swimming?
The following are recommendations taken from the ISRM guidance notes. All children under the age of 8 years to be accompaniedA responsible person, aged at least 16 years, should accompany all children under the age of eight into swimming pools. They will go into the water with the children they are accompanying. Whilst in the pool the responsible person should maintain a constant watch over the children for whom they are responsible and be in close contact with those of their children who are weak or non-swimmers. Standard RatioIn a traditional 25m pool with deep and shallow water: Children under the age four should be accompanied by a responsible person on a one to one basis.Children aged between four to seven should be accompanied by a responsible person on a maximum two to one basis.Our coached Baby Splash sessions enable pre-school children to build water confidence to give them a head start. Do you have adequate car parking facilities? We have an extensive car park with over 200 spaces, including designated wide parking spaces. We also have 2 overspill car parks for busier times.
Do you have a copy of a menu for your catering facilities? A copy of our menu for catering facilities at the venue can be requested by e-mailing us at catering@hillsboroughlc.co.uk. Alternatively, please call us on 0114 231 8120.
Do you have facilities for disabled people? We have extensive facilities for our disabled customers and we were IFI (Inclusive Fitness Initiative) accredited in December 2005. Our facilities are fully accessible and include a lift to our upper floor, designated parking, a lower till point at our Reception desk, hearing loops and specific toilet and changing areas plus much more.
Do I need an induction to use the fitness suite? Can I use the HLC fitness suite if I have had an induction at another SIV site? Yes, all customers require an Introduction to use the fitness suite. If you are a non-member and have undertaken an introduction at another SIV venue then you will be given an Induction card that must be shown to gain access into the facility. All members of SIV will need to bring their SIV card to gain access. It is recommended that customers who have not had an Introduction at Hillsborough should take this opportunity to increase their knowledge of the equipment and specific safety issues.

Could you tell me who is responsible for the Crèche? The Crèche Manager, Sharon Armin, and her dedicated team of staff ensure your child’s wellbeing and enjoyment whilst using the Crèche facilities.
Do students or senior citizens get a discount? We do not give specific discounts for senior citizens or students. However, there is an opportunity to apply for a slice card which is a Sheffield City Council discount card that is accepted at all Sheffield International Venues.
